Rapidly modernising Japan sets the tone for Presage Style 60s ‘Elegant Yet Rugged’ watches.
Seiko says it is combining a retro styling from the 1960s with a touch of Japanese Ivy League inspiration in a new Presage Style 60s ‘Elegant Yet Rugged’ collection.
The classical watches, retailing for £510, use Seiko’s 4R35 automatic movement which has a 40-hour power reserve.
It is available in a choice of navy blue or brown dials and comes in a 39.5mm angular steel case with contrasting polished and brushed facets.
1960s Japan was not going through the same cultural and artistic changes as Britain.
In fact, it could not have been more utilitarian, which is why the Presage ‘Elegant Yet Rugged’ Style 60s timepieces come in the muted colours of uniforms worn by engineers and factory workers at the time, and why their ruggedness has been highlighted.
